He was made to sing one of their most popular songs, "Roxy Roller", and took the already popular song even further up the charts. He played with several bands during his youth and took up the nickname, Rod the Mod. Andre Rieu was born in Maastricht, Netherlands in October of 1949. As his father was a musician, Andre was exposed to the ins and outs of music from a very young age. He started to play the violin at the age of five. Even in his youth, he was very interested in the orchestra section of the musical world.

 

Rieu had success with orchestra throughout his time in university, and by the time he was out, he was ready to make his own orchestra group. So, he established his own group called the Johann Strauss Orchestra. With his group, he’s gone on to perform and conduct many successful performances.
