Gigsberg - Order Now!

Formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1985, Dream Theater is a seminal American progressive metal band featuring John Petrucci on guitar, John Myung on bass, Mike Portnoy on drums (until 2010, and then rejoining in October 2023), James LaBrie on vocals, and Jordan Rudess on keyboards. The group originally started as Majesty by Petrucci, Myung, and Portnoy, who were all from Long Island, New York, and met at Berklee College of Music before deciding to leave school to focus on the band. Throughout its evolution, Petrucci and Myung have remained constant figures in the lineup. The band saw several changes over the years, with Mike Mangini filling in for Portnoy on drums after his departure, and keyboardists Kevin Moore and Derek Sherinian preceding Rudess.
 
With fifteen studio albums to their name, Dream Theater achieved their greatest commercial success with their second album, "Images and Words" (1992), which made it to number 61 on the Billboard 200 chart. Other notable entries include "Awake" (1994) and "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" (2002), achieving critical and chart success. Their fifth album, "Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory" (1999), has been highly praised, even making Guitar World magazine's list of the top 100 guitar albums of all time and being celebrated by Classic Rock magazine as a top concept album.
 
Dream Theater, having sold over 12 million records worldwide as of 2018 and winning a Grammy Award in 2022 among three nominations, is considered a pivotal force in the progressive metal genre. They are often cited alongside Queensrÿche and Fates Warning as one of the "big three" bands that have shaped and popularized the genre.
