Someone as famous and talented as Barbra Streisand needs little introduction. As a woman who’s mastered almost every entertainment format out there, Barbra is a woman who wears (and rocks) many hats. Fans of Barbra have been around since her recording days in the 1960s and have seen her venture out into producing and acting.

Streisand has been recognized time and again for her singing, so much so that she’s one of the best-selling recording artists of all time, with almost 70 million albums sold in the U.S. Despite her fame, Streisand isn’t set to perform on tour for 2018. Where do you begin with someone who’s as talented as Barbra? She was born in New York City in 1942. Streisand graduated from high school when she was 16, but decided not to go to college. She spent her first few years out of school singing for various occasions and in nightclubs. At the time, she was open to acting and got the role of a secretary in a musical called, I Can Get It For You Wholesale. The musical was a success and she won the New York Drama Critic’s prize for Best Supporting Actress and was also nominated for a Tony award.

When she released her first album, The Barbra Streisand Album, in 1963, she won three Grammy awards and made the top 10 on the Billboard chart. From there, her career only went up.
