Born on July 2, 1991, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu MFR, popularly known as Burna Boy, is a renowned Nigerian musician, songwriter, and record producer. His journey to fame began in 2012 with the release of "Like to Party," the leading track of his debut album L.I.F.E, released in 2013. Burna Boy's career took a significant leap in 2017 when he signed with Bad Habit/Atlantic Records in the U.S. and Warner Music Group internationally, marking his entry into major label territory with his third studio album, Outside (2018).

2019 was a landmark year for Burna Boy, as he clinched the Best International Act at the BET Awards and was spotlighted as Apple Music's Up Next artist. His fourth album, African Giant, released in July 2019, garnered immense acclaim, winning Album of the Year at the All Africa Music Awards and receiving a nomination for Best World Music Album at the 62nd Grammy Awards. In 2020, he was named African Artist of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards and his fifth album, Twice as Tall, released in August 2020, won the Best World Music Album at the 63rd Grammy Awards. The following year, he again won Best International Act at the BET Awards.

His sixth studio album, Love, Damini, released in July 2022, achieved record-breaking success, marking the highest debut of an African album on the Billboard 200 chart and reaching high chart positions in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and France. In October of the same year, Burna Boy received the prestigious Member of the Order of the Federal Republic plaque in recognition of his musical accomplishments. In 2023, Rolling Stone placed him at number 197 on its list of the 200 greatest singers of all time. Continuing his winning streak, he secured his fourth Best International Act win at the 2023 BET Awards and also triumphed at The Headies, winning both the Afrobeats Single of the Year and Song of the Year for "Last Last".
